Last Updated: August 26, 2026
Welcome to AP TechMate.
AP TechMate is an artificial intelligence-powered informational assistant designed to help aviation professionals research and understand aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, technical concepts, and regulatory information.
AP TechMate is a supplemental informational tool only. It is not approved maintenance data and must never be used as the sole basis for performing aircraft maintenance or making an airworthiness determination.
By accessing or using AP TechMate, you agree to the following terms.
1. CRITICAL AVIATION SAFETY NOTICE
Aircraft maintenance is safety-critical.
AP TechMate may generate information that is inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, inapplicable to a particular aircraft configuration, or entirely incorrect.
NEVER perform maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, repair, alteration, servicing, installation, removal, operational testing, return-to-service, or airworthiness determination solely based on information generated by AP TechMate.
Before taking action, users must independently verify all information using the current and applicable approved or accepted technical and regulatory data.
Applicable sources may include:
Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM)
Component Maintenance Manual (CMM)
Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC)
Structural Repair Manual (SRM)
Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM)
Fault Isolation Manual (FIM)

Where AP TechMate conflicts with applicable technical data, regulations, manufacturer instructions, engineering instructions, or company procedures, the authoritative source controls.
2. NOT APPROVED MAINTENANCE DATA
Information generated by AP TechMate does not constitute FAA-approved data, FAA-accepted data, manufacturer-approved technical data, engineering authorization, maintenance instructions, or authorization for return to service.
AP TechMate does not replace an AMM, CMM, SRM, IPC, WDM, FIM, MEL, AD, Service Bulletin, engineering document, or any other required technical publication.
The FAA maintains specific requirements and guidance applicable to aircraft maintenance and continued airworthiness. (Federal Aviation Administration)
3. NO AIRWORTHINESS DETERMINATIONS
AP TechMate cannot determine whether an aircraft, engine, appliance, component, system, repair, or alteration is airworthy.
AP TechMate cannot:
Approve maintenance
Approve repairs or alterations
Issue engineering authorization
Perform required inspections
Exercise RII authority
Sign maintenance records
Approve an aircraft or component for return to service
Determine regulatory compliance on behalf of a user or organization
Replace the judgment of authorized maintenance or engineering personnel
All such determinations remain the responsibility of appropriately qualified and authorized persons and organizations.
4. USER QUALIFICATIONS
AP TechMate does not verify whether a user holds the certificates, ratings, training, qualifications, authorization, or experience necessary to perform a particular maintenance activity.
Users are solely responsible for ensuring they are properly qualified and authorized to perform any work they undertake.
Access to information through AP TechMate does not constitute authorization to perform maintenance.
5. AI LIMITATIONS
Artificial intelligence can make mistakes.
AP TechMate may:
Misinterpret a question
Confuse aircraft models or variants
Provide incorrect part numbers
Provide incorrect torque values or limits
Reference obsolete information
Omit required steps
Produce incorrect troubleshooting sequences
Misinterpret regulations
Generate nonexistent references
Fail to recognize configuration differences
Present incorrect information confidently
The FAA has specifically recognized that AI-generated content may be inaccurate, misleading, or false. (Federal Aviation Administration)
Never assume an AP TechMate answer is correct because it sounds authoritative, detailed, or technically plausible.
6. VERIFY EFFECTIVITY AND CONFIGURATION
Aircraft maintenance information may vary according to aircraft model, serial number, modification status, configuration, installed equipment, operator program, regulatory jurisdiction, and other factors.
Users must independently determine the applicability and effectivity of any information before relying upon it.
When uncertain, stop and consult the applicable approved technical data, manufacturer, engineering organization, operator, repair station, or regulatory authority.
7. REGULATORY INFORMATION
AP TechMate may help users locate, explain, or summarize regulatory information.
Such responses are provided for convenience only.
Regulations, interpretations, guidance, Airworthiness Directives, policies, and other regulatory materials can change.
Users are responsible for consulting the current official regulatory source before making compliance decisions.

FINAL SAFETY REMINDER
AP TechMate is an AI assistant—not approved maintenance data.
Always verify information using current applicable manuals, approved or accepted technical data, manufacturer instructions, company procedures, and regulatory requirements before performing or approving aircraft maintenance.
When in doubt, stop and verify.
One thing I would not publish yet is the privacy section as the final version. Since your chatbot runs through third-party AI/communications infrastructure, we should make that section accurately match what your actual system collects, stores, and shares rather than making broad promises that could create liability themselves.
Also, the liability language is useful, but it doesn't magically override product-liability, negligence, consumer-protection, privacy, or other laws. For a safety-critical aviation product, attorney review before selling it to mechanics, repair stations, or airlines is worth doing.
